Current Monitor - Over Current Relay

What is Current Monitor - Over Current Relay?

The Over Current Relay (ROM 19LY2) is a precision monitoring device designed to detect and respond to overcurrent conditions in electrical systems. It ensures reliable protection by continuously measuring current levels and activating relay contacts when preset thresholds are exceeded. Equipped with a bright LED display and user-configurable settings, this relay is ideal for industrial and power system applications.

Applications :

Wiring Connections:

  • Auxiliary Supply: Connect L & N as per the diagram.
  • Current Transformer (CT): Connect CT primary and secondary as per application requirements.
  • Relay Contacts: Two relay outputs (RLY1 & RLY2) for overcurrent protection.

Testing Procedure (Test Bench Verification) :

To ensure proper operation, follow these steps:

  1. Unpack the device and check for any physical damage.
  2. Connect the auxiliary supply (90-270V AC/DC).
  3. Wiring: Properly connect the CT and relay terminals as per the provided diagram.
  4. Apply Load: Use a standard AC ammeter (Class 0.2, 1A/5A range) and an AC load source capable of delivering 1A or 5A current.
  5. Adjust Input Voltage: Vary the auto transformer voltage to generate the required test current (1A or 5A).
  6. Verify Measurement: Compare the displayed current value with the standard ammeter reading. It should match the programmed CT ratio.

Key Features :

Wide CT Range: Supports primary selection from 1A to 5000A and secondary selection from 1A to 64A.
Digital Display: Bright 4-digit LED ensures clear visibility of current readings.
Dual Relay Protection: Two independent relay contacts (RLY1 & RLY2) for effective fault response.
High Accuracy: Class 1% precision ensures reliable overcurrent detection.
Compact Design: Fits into 96mm x 96mm panel cutout, suitable for various industrial setups.
Durable & Reliable: Operates in 0°C to 55°C temperature range, with non-condensing humidity resistance (<95% RH).
